Hand Embroidery Certificate Course Concludes at SPPND GDC Samba

Jammu, December 14 (KIP)-SPPND Government Degree College, Samba, successfully concluded a 10-day Hand Embroidery Certificate Course (Aari Work) from December 4 to December 14, 2024. Organized as part of the college’s commitment to skill development—a key institutional best practice—the program aimed to blend creativity with cultural heritage. Guided by expert trainers Ms. Ritu Gupta and Mr. Arun Gupta from the Dogre Wellwishers Foundation, 38 students gained hands-on experience in traditional embroidery techniques such as sequence work and beadwork. The course, a collaboration between the IQAC and the Department of Home Science, was coordinated by Dr. Banpreet Kour (IQAC Coordinator) and Dr. Ramandeep Kour (HOD, Home Science). Principal Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri lauded the initiative, emphasizing its role in connecting students with traditional craftsmanship while fostering innovation and creativity. Participants expressed enthusiasm for applying their newfound skills, reflecting the program’s success in preserving and promoting artisanal crafts in modern times. The college plans to host similar workshops in the future, furthering its mission to empower students with practical skills and a deeper appreciation for cultural heritage.
