Srinagar, March 13 (KIP)-A protest was registered by Disability sector at Press colony Srinagar in which scores of persons agitated against the recent Jammu and Kashmir budget session announcement. Persons with different Disabilities facing blindness hearing speech disable, intellectual disable, orthopedic disable and multiple disabilities raised slogans JK Budget 2025 *Not Accessible Not Acceptable*. The representatives of the Disability sector while talking to media told that NC led Omar Abdullah government in their manifesto had promised 3000 rupees as social security grant but in budget it was raised to 1250 from existing 1000 rupees. which is not only injustice but degradation of Disability sector?

The person with disabilities cannot perform hard manual labour because of severe body Disabilities. We are not in a position to meet medicinal requirements high support needs like catheter urine bags bed sheets diapers etc. Social security money is given for survival and support to live life with dignity but 1250 rupees pension is not fulfilling our demands. We are ignored in society and rejected for marriages. Thus we are mostly single and are rejected from National food security benefits by not providing AAY ration cards. We were waiting eagerly for budget to announce skill development and state policy for overall rehabilitation. But NC led government discouraged and dismayed us by giving peanuts, said Javed Ahmad Tak

Even we are sad with approach of opposition parties who are mum and insensitive about our issues. Most of the legislators are not Serious about rehabilitation of disability sector and they treat us under charity model which is completely injustice, tak added

Our demand is 15 to 20% increase per annum on social security pension and not one time token of 250 rupees.

Disability sector should be given political registration, so that we can discuss our issues and matters at par with other physically fit legislatures

The Disability sector should be given education employment and access to services

During budgets the skill development accessibility in infrastructure and employment opportunities should be the main focus to rehabilitate the disability sector. The sector should not be dealt with charity model.

The Disability sector should be given equal opportunities and equal participation in the society as mandated by UNCRPD and Rights of persons with Disabilities. Act 2016.

Disability sector gave time ultimatum upto 20th March after that they decided to protest on Eid day.
