State-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament Held at University of Ladakh

Leh, March 29 (KIP)-The University of Ladakh, in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Leh, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, hosted the State-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament at its Leh Campus. Centered on the theme “75 Years of the Indian Constitution: A Journey of Rights, Duties, and Progress; The 11 Sankalp of Samvidhan Divas: A Pledge to Strengthen India’s Constitutional Values,” the event aimed to commemorate the Constitution’s transformative role in shaping India’s democracy over the past 75 years.

Hon’ble Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Mohd. Hanefa Jan, attended as the Guest of Honour. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University of Ladakh, Prof. Saket Kushwaha, and Sh. Nawang Tundup, Registrar of the University of Ladakh, were also present at the event.

Dr. Jigmat Dachen, Dean Students’ Welfare, University of Ladakh, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the Constitution’s pivotal role in India’s democratic framework.

In his address, H’CEC Tashi Gyalson commended the participants and extended his best wishes to the winners advancing to the National Level Youth Parliament. He highlighted how such platforms provide the youth of Ladakh with valuable insights into the parliamentary process while nurturing leadership qualities. Encouraging young minds to uphold truth and responsibility, he underscored their role in shaping a progressive nation.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Saket Kushwaha, delivered an insightful speech, urging the youth to embrace a “Nation First” attitude. He emphasized the significance of such initiatives in fostering national development.

A key highlight of the event was a speech competition, where participants passionately reflected on the theme. The competition was judged by a distinguished panel comprising Mr. Ishtyaq Kacho, Superintendent of Police, CIV, UT Ladakh; Dr. Deldan Namgyal, Chief Scientist, IAS&T, University of Ladakh; Ms. Kunzes Dolma, India Ambassador, Women in Geothermal (WING); and Dr. Sonam Joldan, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Ladakh.

Following an engaging contest, the jury announced the winners selected for the National Level: Shah Jahan from Government Degree College, Nubra; Sanju Kumari from Government Degree College, Nubra; and Vilayat Vani from the University of Ladakh.

Ms. Tajamul Ara, Deputy Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Leh, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organizers.
