AJKGRDS to celebrate 134th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar on Apr 14

Jammu, April 08 (KIP)-In a highly attended and spirited press conference held at Guru Ravidass Gurudwara, Krishna Nagar, the All J&K Guru Ravidass Sabha (AJKGRDS) announced its decision to commemorate the 134th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with grandeur and unity. The event, scheduled to take place at Krishna Nagar on $14, will be organized in collaboration with all major SC/ST/OBC socio-religious organizations of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, bringing together thousands of followers to honor the legacy of India’s chief architect of the Constitution.

Mohinder Bhagat, President of the All India Bhagat Mahasabha (J&K Unit), lauded the collective decision to host a joint celebration. He shared that this noble initiative was spearheaded by the Adhoc Committee of AJKGRDS, which extended invitations to various socio-religious groups to participate in what is poised to be one of the most unifying celebrations of Babasaheb’s ideals in the region.

A wide spectrum of organizations and respected individuals attended the press meet, pledging full support. These included Prof. Kali Dass, Qureshi (AIBCU), Er. Sadiq Azad (GDCT), Mohd Muneer Mugal (Pir Panchal ABC), M.R Bangotra (AIBCU), K.K Fotra (Sain Samaj), Brij Mehra, Prof. G.L. Thapa, Er. Joginder Paul (JKRCEA), representatives from Kabir Sabha, Saryara Sabha, Gardri Sabha, Batwal Sabha, and numerous branches of Guru Ravidass Sabhas.

Ajay Thapa of Bhim Kranti Sena and many Sarpanches, Panches, and social activists were also present to endorse the joint effort.

Sham Basson from the Dalit Chetna Manch, elaborated on the planned program, which will begin with Buddha Bandana, followed by addresses from dignitaries, children’s speeches, and a cultural segment. Notable performers include Sonu Heer, the Tapasya Art Group, and students from Savitri Bai Phule Modern School led by Sunita Bangotra.

The event will be graced by Rajinder Kashyap, former Special Secretary of Law, Government of India, as the Chief Guest, while the Director of IIIM-CSIR, Jammu is expected to be the Guest of Honour. A keynote address will also be delivered by a prominent local speaker with national repute.

Er. R.C. Bhasin, Convener of the All J&K Shree Guru Ravidass Sabha, concluded the announcement with details of the closing ceremony, which will feature Bheem Bandana and a vote of thanks, followed by a community lunch for all attendees. He urged all Ambedkarite followers, especially youth, women, retirees, and working professionals from SC/ST/OBC communities, to attend the event in large numbers and be inspired by the life and teachings of Babasaheb Ambedkar.

The conference saw active participation from over 50 leaders and community members, including TC Bavouria, Kuldip Fouji, Surjeet Singh Heer, Prof. C.L. Shivgotra, CL Banal, Capt. Ashok Kumar, Capt. Harbans Lal, Des Raj Saragral, Dr. Buti Ram, Himant Kumar, and many others—reflecting a united front of Ambedkarite thought and community spirit.

This year’s celebration of Babasaheb’s 134th birth anniversary promises to be not only a tribute to a towering social reformer but also a powerful symbol of collective resolve for equality, justice, and empowerment.
