Chief Secretary Dr. Kotwal Launches MedLEaPR Web Portal to Strengthen Forensic Medical Reporting

Leh,April 08 (KIP)-In a major step towards digitizing medico-legal processes, the Chief Secretary of UT Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal officially launched the Medico-Legal Examination and Post-Mortem Report (MedLEaPR) web portal today. The launch event brought together key officials from the police, health, and IT departments.


The programme began with a welcome address by Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education Dr. VasanthaKumar. Director General of Police, Ladakh, Dr. S.D. Jamwal, spoke about the importance of accurate and timely medico-legal reporting in ensuring justice and supporting law enforcement.


Rahul Jain, Scientist-F and Head of the MedLEaPR Project from NIC Haryana, gave a detailed presentation and live demo of the application. He highlighted its features, user interface, and benefits in enabling standardized, secure reporting.


In his address, Dr. Kotwal emphasized the government's strong commitment to embracing innovative digital technologies that enhance the quality and speed of public service delivery. He said that the introduction of the MedLEaPR application marks a significant milestone in modernizing forensic medical reporting in Ladakh. He expressed his happiness at seeing such a vital initiative being implemented in the region, recognizing its potential to improve justice delivery and coordination among departments.


The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vasanthakumar Namasivayam. He appreciated the efforts of all departments involved.
