CEC Kargil Inspects Healthcare and Administrative Facilities During Chiktan Visit

Kargil,January 17 (KIP)-Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today visited Chiktan Sub-Division and inspected the facilities being provided at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Chiktan.
During the visit, the CEC reviewed the healthcare facilities, availability of medical staff, and essential services at the CHC. He interacted with the concerned officials and emphasised the need for efficient and people-friendly healthcare delivery.
The CEC also inspected the newly constructed buildings of the SDM Office, Chiktan. On the occasion, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon directed the SDM Chiktan to ensure proper attendance and duty of all employees, warning that strict action will be taken against those found derelict in their duties. He categorically stated that the public should not suffer at any cost due to negligence or laxity of officials.
Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon was accompanied by Executive Councillor Aga Syed Mujataba, Councillor Abdul Wahid, SDM Chiktan, and other concerned officers during the visit.

Shri Sonam Norbu, JKAS, Additional District Development Commissioner/ administrator Municipality, Leh chaired a meeting to review traffic management issues in urban areas of Leh District on 17.01.2026 at the VC Room, DC Office, Leh, as part of the Month-long Road Safety Programme.
The meeting primarily focused on parking management and traffic regulation in municipal and urban areas. Deliberations were held on the introduction of new paid parking facilities, and the Traffic Police and Municipal Committee, Leh were directed to jointly identify and prepare a list of potential paid parking locations.
Issues related to the allotment of parking areas, traffic challans, and the management of floating traffic zones were discussed in detail. Emphasis was laid on regulating bus movement in urban areas, including proper route planning, identification and implementation of designated bus stops, and strengthening enforcement mechanisms.
The meeting also reviewed the role of recovery trucks in easing congestion and the need for regulating old vehicles within the town limits. Discussions were held on the inclusion of identification of potential routes and addressing parking and operational challenges related to e-buses.
The meeting was attended by Kunzes Dolma, DSP Traffic; Manager Transport, SIDCO Leh; SHO Leh, Manzoor; Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Leh, and other concerned officials.
