EC Tashi Congratulates Dr Padma Gurmath on UT Gold Medal and Padma Shri Award 2026

Kargil, February 04 (KIP)-The Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Er Punchok Tashi, on behalf of the people of Zanskar and Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil, has extended warm congratulations to Dr Padma Gurmath, Director, National Institute of Sowa Rigpa, Ladakh, on being conferred with the prestigious UT Gold Medal and Padma Shri Award 2026.
In his congratulatory message, the Executive Councillor stated that the remarkable achievements of Dr Padma Gurmath are a matter of immense pride not only for Ladakh but for the entire Himalayan region. He emphasized that these national honours stand as a testament to Dr Gurmath’s unwavering dedication, visionary leadership, and outstanding contributions towards the advancement of Sowa Rigpa, research, and the holistic development of the region.
Er Punchok Tashi further noted that this recognition serves as a source of inspiration for the youth of Ladakh and a beacon of hope for the future. He highlighted that Dr Gurmath’s journey reflects how perseverance, commitment, and hard work can lead to excellence even in the most challenging circumstances.
The Executive Councillor expressed hope that Dr Padma Gurmath would continue to bring honour to the land of Ladakh and inspire generations to come through her continued service and contributions in the field of traditional medicine and research.

A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Leh, Shri Sonam Norboo, JKAS, on 4th February 2025 at the VC Room, DC Office, Leh, to assess the implementation status of the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan (AKA).
Under the initiative, mapping of Adi Seva Kendras (ASKs) is being undertaken in various villages of UT Ladakh to strengthen last-mile service delivery. During the meeting, Block Development Officers (BDOs) were directed to extend urgent support and submit the required details at the earliest for onward submission to the higher authorities, Government of India. The information sought includes the list of Adi Seva Kendras with location coordinates, details of Adi Karmayogis (Adi Sathis and Sahyogis) along with their qualifications and experience, and Gram Panchayat clusters (grouped into 2–3 clusters based on proximity) as per the annexure.
The progress of the functioning of SRMCs under LREDA was reviewed, and it was emphasized that the supervision of the SRMCs shall continue to be carried out by the respective BDOs. A follow-up meeting will be convened shortly to review the progress of implementation.
The meeting was attended both physically and virtually by the District Programme Officer, ICDS/Assistant Commissioner (Development), Leh; District Social Welfare Officer, Leh; District Informatics Officer, Leh; District Panchayat Officer, Leh; and all Block Development Officers of Leh District.
