Baramulla farmers, others meet BJP leadership at Jammu

Jammu, February 16 (KIP)-A deputation of farmers and representatives of various associations from Baramulla district, led by the Bhartiya Kissan Union (Lok Shakti), called upon the senior leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.

J&K BJP General Secretary Baldev Singh Billawaria accompanied by Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra listened to their issues, while assuring them support to all genuine public welfare issues.

The deputation, representing the concerns of grassroots stakeholders from North Kashmir, was led on behalf of Devi Dutta, State President of Bhartiya Kissan Union (Lok Shakti). The delegation comprised District Chairman Rafiq Ahmed Khan, Youth Vice-President Syed Asiq Khan Hussain, Vice-President Kashmir Province Mohd. Azam Bhan, District President Akbar Din Manhas, Block President Khair Ali Mir, Mahila Youth President Maymoon Bano, and other prominent members.

During the meeting, the delegation highlighted several pressing issues affecting farmers and local residents of Baramulla and adjoining areas. They strongly demanded maximum local recruitment in the NHPC-2 project and the railway project from Baramulla to Uri, emphasizing that local youth must be given priority in employment opportunities arising from development initiatives in their own region.

The deputation also raised the issue of construction of bunkers for genuinely needy families residing within close proximity (up to 5 kilometers) of sensitive zones, stressing the urgent need to safeguard civilian lives. They sought a review of aid grants under PMGSY housing allocations in their area, alleging misappropriation and irregular allotments, and urged that benefits be extended strictly to deserving beneficiaries.

Among other demands, the delegation called for installation of Solar High Mast Lights at Braman village, operational strengthening of SDRF in Uri to effectively handle emergency situations, and expediting pending infrastructure works. They demanded PMGSY roads from Braman Rafiabad to Gibbarwal Gali, from Kambar to Dariyan, and from Rafiabad to the Upper Pahari Belt of Braman village to improve connectivity in remote areas.

The delegation further raised concerns regarding the lack of timely fire emergency services to mitigate fire-related damages and highlighted the stalled Jal Jeevan Mission project in the area, requesting immediate intervention to resume the work for ensuring access to safe drinking water.

Baldev Singh Billawaria, assured the deputation that every genuine demand would be taken up with the concerned authorities at appropriate levels. He stated that the BJP government is committed to transparent governance, equitable development, and safeguarding the rights of farmers, youth, and marginalized sections of society.

Dr. Pardeep Mahotra said that the party stands firmly with the people of Baramulla. He stated that the BJP has always believed in ground-level engagement and constructive dialogue to resolve public grievances effectively.
