Jammu, March 23 (KIP)-BJP State spokesperson and Former President Jammu University Research Scholars Association (JURSA) Dr. Hari Dutt Shishu extends its sincere appreciation to the authorities of Jammu University for the prompt and principled decision to excise the content pertaining to Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Sir Syed Ahmad Khan from the syllabus of the Master of Arts (Political Science) programme. This decisive action reflects a responsible commitment to preserving the integrity of our academic environment and safeguarding national ethos, said Dr. Shishu in a press statement.

Dr. Shishu said that the inclusion of figures whose ideologies are intrinsically linked to the partition of India and the propagation of separatist narratives has long been a matter of deep concern for students, alumni, and patriotic citizens. Their removal underscores the university’s recognition of its duty to foster an education system that aligns with the values of unity, integrity, and national pride. He further said that while academic discourse must remain robust and inclusive, it is equally imperative to ensure that curricula do not propagate content that undermines the sovereignty while historical consciousness of the nation. The decision affirms that scholarly inquiry should be balanced with sensitivity to the collective sentiments of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and India.

BJP Spokesperson Dr. Hari Dutt Shishu said that our Party commend the proactive role of student bodies, notably the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), whose peaceful advocacy brought this issue to the fore. The university’s responsiveness demonstrates constructive dialogue between administration and stakeholders.

While we welcome the action of the University, we also demand a thorough investigation to identify and fix responsibility on the officials who are actually involved into this move and trying to vitiate the academic, peaceful and inclusive environment of the campus. Accountability is essential to ensure that academic integrity is upheld and national interests are protected.

We therefore urge the university to conduct a comprehensive review of overall campus environment and expose them who are held bent to disturb the campus and trying to build a narrative in the University that could be construed as divisive or detrimental to national interests. Transparency in the decision-making process and clear communication to the academic community will reinforce trust and confidence.

This decision marks a significant stride towards an education system that nurtures informed citizenship and national harmony. Jammu University is one of the leading Universities of the country and have left a tangible impact in the academic world across the glove and will continue to maintain its legacy of rich tradition of nationalism and committed for the promotion of inclusive culture of Jammu and Kashmir.

The BJP, Jammu & Kashmir, stands in full support of such measures and remains committed to working with educational institutions to uphold the highest standards of academic excellence intertwined with cultural and patriotic preferences, said Dr. Hari Dutt Shishu while concluding his statement.
