CUKashmir opens Scholarship Gates for students

Ganderbal,April 20 (KIP)- In a significant step towards supporting students and expanding academic opportunities for aspirants across the country, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) has opened doors to a wide range of scholarship schemes following the approval of its key academic programmes by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for the academic year 2026–27.

The approval covers programmes including: B.Tech in Civil Engineering, B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, M.Tech in Structural Engineering, M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering and M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning under the Engineering and Technology category and Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) and MBA in Travel and Tourism under the management domain. These programmes are designed to meet modern industry needs and provide students with practical and future-ready skills.

With this approval in place, students enrolled in these programmes are now eligible for a number of national-level scholarship schemes offered by AICTE. These include the Pragati Scholarship Scheme for meritorious girl students, and the Saksham Scholarship Scheme, aimed at supporting specially abled students. Students from challenging backgrounds can benefit from the Swanath Scholarship Scheme. The enrolled students of these programmes can also become eligible for PG Scholarship for Engineering and Technology, AICTE Doctoral Fellowship (ADF) Scheme for pursuing Ph.D and Post-Doctoral Fellowship Scheme.

The university has demonstrated strong participation in these initiatives and in the previous academic year, one candidate was enrolled under the AICTE Post-Doctoral Fellowship Scheme, while six postgraduate students are currently availing GATE-based scholarships through AICTE.

Meanwhile, adding another feather to its cap, the programmes including BA LLB, LLM at the School of Legal Studies have been approved by the Bar Council of India, while programmes at the School of Education comprising B.A B.Ed. and B.Sc. B.Ed have been approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Ministry of Education.

Further strengthening its student support system, CUKashmir continues to implement its in-house financial assistance programmes. Under the novel Earn While Learn (EWL) scheme, students can earn up to Rs 4,000 per month, with a ceiling of Rs 12,000 per semester, enabling them to gain work experience while supporting their educational expenses. The Student Assistance Fund (SAF) provides additional support, wherein up to 40 percent of students can avail up to 100 percent tuition fee waiver based on merit-cum-means criteria, ensuring inclusivity and access to quality education, ensuring that no deserving student is left behind.

Vice Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath said the approval and associated scholarships reflect the University’s commitment to student welfare and academic growth. He added that the University will continue to work towards creating more opportunities for students and helping them achieve their goals.

Dean Academics Affairs, Prof. Shahid Rasool appreciated the efforts of faculty and staff in achieving this milestone. He further said the integration of academic programmes with nationally supported scholarship schemes will significantly enhance access, equity, and excellence in higher education.

Registrar, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir reaffirmed the University’s commitment to provide strong academic support, and financial assistance so that students can focus on learning and building their future without worry.
