Jammu,May 09(KIP)-Deputation of Chashoti Cloudburst victims’ families led by Rajesh Mehta called on J&K BJP President and Member Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Sat Sharma at the party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.

Former MLA Ashwani Sharma, BJP General Secretary Sanjita Dogra, and Training Department convenor Dr. Parneesh Mahajan were also present on the occasion.

The deputation submitted a memorandum highlighting the hardships being faced due to the non-issuance of death certificates of the 33 persons who went missing during the devastating cloudburst and flash floods in Chashoti in 2025. The family members informed the BJP leadership that despite the passage of considerable time since the tragedy, the legal formalities related to the missing persons remain unresolved, causing immense emotional and financial distress to the affected families.

The deputation members stated that the absence of death certificates has prevented them from completing various legal procedures, including settlement of insurance claims and other essential documentation. They emphasized that with such a long period having elapsed since the incident, there remains no hope of survival of the missing persons, and urged the administration to take compassionate and immediate action in the matter.

Sat Sharma, while taking serious note of the issue, immediately spoke with the Divisional Commissioner and the concerned Deputy Commissioner and asked them to initiate prompt action to provide relief to the aggrieved families. He stressed that the administration should address the matter on priority and ensure that the affected families do not face further hardship.
