Srinagar, May 09(KIP)-J&K PDP Party President Ms. Mehbooba Mufti addressed the workers convention in Budgam and thanked the people of Budgam for standing up against injustice and the broken promises of the NC, and for sending a young and bold voice to the Assembly.
She strongly criticized the NC government for repeatedly blocking PDP’s pro-people bills in the Assembly and reiterated the demand for establishment of an NLU in Budgam, reminding people that Omar Abdullah had promised it during the election campaign but has since gone silent after losing the seat.
Mehbooba Ji also raised alarm over what she termed a systematic erasure of the Urdu language under the present dispensation, citing attempts to dilute the role of Urdu in examinations like Naib Tehsildar recruitment despite Urdu being deeply linked to the spiritual, cultural and religious heritage of all communities in J&K.
She spoke about the growing unemployment crisis, rising depression among youth, and the non-issuance of NOCs to Siraj-ul-Uloom and other schools functioning on government land, saying the future of thousands of students is being compromised.
On the drug menace, she asserted that strict action must be taken against drug peddlers but innocent families should not be made to suffer. She also highlighted the plight of prisoners lodged in faraway jails without trial and said she is pursuing their cases in the Supreme Court to ensure their relocation closer to home.
Mehbooba Mufti further highlighted the hardships faced by brick kiln owners despite fulfilling government formalities, and raised concerns of taxi operators being pushed towards ruin as selected routes are flooded with Smart City buses while others are neglected.
She accused the government of rampant corruption, saying deserving youth are being denied opportunities while political favoritism dominates recruitment. She also criticised the government for backtracking on its promises regarding reservation and open merit, leaving thousands of aspirants feeling betrayed and ignored.
