Youth Conclave in Jammu: Call to Embrace Ambedkar’s Mantra ‘Educate, Agitate, Organize’
10/05/2026
Jammu, May 10(KIP)-The All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC & Minority Organisations, J&K today organized a ‘Youth Conclave’ at Prem Resort, Muthi, Jammu. The objective of the conclave was to connect youth with the vision of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
A large number of students and young participants from across Jammu attended the conclave.
Key Emphasis:
The Confederation leaders urged the youth to:
1. Prioritize education for self-empowerment and to break the shackles of inequality.
2. Acquire rational knowledge to understand and challenge social discrimination.
3. Emerge as responsible, selfless leaders committed to social service and nation-building.
Welcoming the participants, the leaders invoked Baba Saheb’s principle: “We are Indians, firstly and lastly.” They called upon the youth to work towards building a casteless society where no individual is judged as high or low by birth. The youth were also inspired to actively engage in politics and practice ‘Character Politics’ based on morality and constitutional values.
Address by Sh. R K Kalsotra, State President:
Addressing the conclave, Sh. R K Kalsotra said, “I extend a heartfelt welcome to all young comrades present here. I congratulate every Confederation member whose tireless efforts made this Conclave a success.
We have convened this Conclave in light of today’s circumstances. Attempts are being made to alter Babasaheb’s Constitution. Fundamental rights are under attack. People are being divided and subjected to violence in the name of caste, religion, attire, and food habits. All avenues of youth progress are being blocked.
The most painful truth is that the very communities for whom the Constitution guarantees special provisions are today victims of exploitation. Instead of protecting our rights, we often restrict ourselves to slogans and commotion. At times, we even join hands with anti-Babasaheb ideologies and end up harming our own Bahujan brethren.
This Youth Conclave is to ensure we understand, discuss, and embrace the ideals of Babasaheb and the Constitution.
Babasaheb’s ideology means a life of reason, social justice, and selfless service. His mantra for youth remains our greatest strength: ‘Educate, Agitate, Organize.’
Educate: Education is the strongest weapon to break social slavery. Pursue higher education. Use rational knowledge, not blind tradition, to understand social issues.
Agitate: This does not mean violence. It means spreading awareness, peaceful struggle against inequality, and fighting for constitutional rights. Be fearless against injustice.
Organize: Change does not come from fighting alone. Collective effort is essential for political power and to secure rights.
Babasaheb also gave us four guiding principles:
1. Uphold Social Justice and Equality: Fight caste and untouchability. Treat every human as equal by birth. As Babasaheb said, ‘I measure the progress of a community by the progress of its women.’ Support Dalits, Adivasis, OBCs, and Minorities.
2. Embrace Constitutional Patriotism: Read the Constitution. Live by Justice, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity daily. ‘We are Indians, firstly and lastly.’ Use only legal, non-violent, democratic means.
3. Cultivate Rationality and Character: Question superstitions. Be rational and humane. Rely on self-help for a life of dignity. Aim to live ‘not merely a long life, but a great one.’
4. Become Politically Active: Be responsible citizens. Participate in politics to ensure transparency and social development. True education is using knowledge for others’ welfare.
Struggles and Achievements:
Sh. Kalsotra added, ‘With strong will, no work is impossible. Since 1978, we have been in social movements. In 1997, the Centre abolished 50% reservation through 5 SROs. We led continuous protests in Delhi and J&K. Parliament was gheraoed repeatedly. Due to this pressure, the rules were amended and rights restored.
In J&K, after repeated gherao of the Assembly, the Reservation Act-2004 was enacted. Promotion quota was restored via SRO-294, Nodal Officers were appointed, inter-district recruitment started, and SC/ST members were appointed in PSC and SSRB.
In 2015, when reservation in public sector jobs was under threat, our agitation forced the government to reinstate it.
In March this year, during the budget session, a bill to reduce SC/ST/OBC reservation was opposed by us. Due to our protest and gherao of the Assembly, the bill could not even be introduced.
We are also running awareness camps for uneducated mothers and their children. When you commit yourself to society’s welfare, the task is always accomplished.’”
Muddair Jalali youth leader impress upon the youth to study Baba Sahib Ambedkar which is great motivation for youth . His struggle is itself a motivation.
Koushal Targotra exhorted upon youth to maintain unity for achieving the goal of Confederation to save constitution reservation and rights.
Wahida Kouser impressed for involving women in youtha movement
