DC and ADDC Kargil Review Water Supply Schemes in Chiktan and Sankoo Areas

Kargil, May 11(KIP)- Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Shri Rakesh Kumar, IAS, and Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kargil today jointly chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the implementation and progress of water supply schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Chiktan and Sankoo subdivisions.
The meeting was attended by the concerned district and sectoral officers including officials from PHE, PWD R&B, PMGSY, Health, Rural Development and other line departments.
At the outset, a detailed presentation was made regarding the physical and financial progress of ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission schemes, status of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs), and restoration works undertaken in various villages of Chiktan and Sankoo areas.
During the meeting, the chair directed the concerned officers to prepare a comprehensive improvement plan for water supply schemes requiring source stabilisation and tap connectivity for unconnected households, newly constructed houses, schools, health institutions and government buildings. The concerned departments were instructed to complete pending works within the stipulated timeline.
The DC and ADDC stressed the need for close coordination among the PHE, PWD R&B, PMGSY and Rural Development departments to ensure timely completion of works and smooth functioning of water supply schemes, particularly during the winter season.
They further directed the concerned officers to conduct regular field visits in villages facing implementation-related issues so that pending disputes and bottlenecks can be resolved on priority. Weekly review meetings shall also be conducted to monitor restoration works affected during execution of road projects.
The meeting also emphasised the importance of equitable distribution of water supply infrastructure across left and right bank areas of Chiktan and Sankoo subdivisions. Concerned departments were instructed to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply and timely completion of all restoration and connectivity works in the region.
