ICAI J&K Branch along with Career Counselling Committee and JKBOSE Hold Strategic Meeting
to Promote Commerce Education and Career Awareness

Jammu, May 12 (KIP)- A significant meeting was held today on 12th May 2026 at 11:30 AM in the Office Chamber of the Director Academics, JKBOSE, Rehari Colony, Jammu between CA. Arpit Kabra, Chairman, Career Counselling Committee, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Dr. Parveen Singh, Director, Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) along with CA. Amit Gupta, Chairman, CA. Sourav Pargal, Past-Chairman and CA. Jatin Malhotra, Vice-Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Branch of ICAI & Dr. Yasir Hamid Sirwal, Deputy Director Academics – Jammu Division (J.D.), JKBOSE and other officials from both sides to deliberate upon collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening commerce education and career awareness among students in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
During the meeting, the representatives of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) highlighted the pivotal role being played by ICAI, the apex statutory body regulating the Chartered Accountancy profession in India, through its Career Counselling Committee in redefining the perception of commerce education among students. The Committee is actively promoting commerce education as a future-ready and high-impact career pathway aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 and the framework of NEP 2020.
The Career Counselling Committee of ICAI apprised JKBOSE about its various initiatives designed to provide early exposure, skill development opportunities, and informed career decision-making support to students from Class VIII to Class XII across India and abroad.
Both sides discussed the broad scope of collaboration between ICAI and JKBOSE for promotion and strengthening of commerce education in schools affiliated with the Board. Organising training programmes and orientation sessions for commerce teachers and lecturers and conducting Career Counselling Programmes for schools affiliated with JKBOSE.
During the meeting, JKBOSE also requested ICAI to extend academic support in the ongoing development of Social Science textbooks for Classes 6th to 8th, wherein JKBOSE intends to incorporate content related to Commerce and Economics for inclusion in their textbooks.
Both organisations expressed their commitment towards working collaboratively for empowering students with quality commerce education, career awareness, and skill-oriented learning opportunities in the region.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with mutual assurance of continued cooperation in the larger interest of students and the education ecosystem.
