CEC Kargil Meets ICICI Bank Delegation to Strengthen Banking Services and Youth Engagement

Kargil, May 15(KIP)-The Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today held a meeting with a delegation from ICICI Bank to discuss measures for strengthening banking services in the district, with special emphasis on rural and remote areas.
The ICICI Bank delegation was led by Zuhaib Vaid, Regional Head-Institutional Banking, Jammu & Kashmir, along with Waseem Hassan, Sales Regional Head -Institutional Banking Sameer Qadiri, Branch Head, Kargil; and Tahira Banoo, Relationship Manager, ICICI Bank, Kargil Branch.
During the interaction, detailed discussions were held on enhancing the outreach and efficiency of banking services in rural areas of Kargil, ensuring greater financial inclusion, and improving access to institutional banking facilities for the local population.
Mr. Zuhaib Vaid informed the CEC that, in addition to regular banking services, ICICI Bank has been actively conducting short educational and awareness campaigns for local students, particularly focusing on banking-related competitive examinations and career opportunities in the banking sector. He further highlighted that ICICI Bank is running several skill development and capacity-building programmes aimed at strengthening local employment and enhancing youth employability.
Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon appreciated ICICI Bank's initiatives, not only in delivering banking services but also in contributing to youth empowerment and employment generation in the region. He emphasized that such efforts play a crucial role in socio-economic development, especially in a geographically challenging district like Kargil.
CEC Kargil also expressed hope that ICICI Bank will focus on education, health, and other welfare sectors through its CSR initiatives. He emphasized that a region like Kargil, with its unique geographical and socio-economic challenges, requires sustained institutional support in critical areas such as quality education, healthcare infrastructure, youth skill development, women empowerment, and community welfare.
