Astrophotography Exhibition and Stargazing Session

Leh, May 24 (KIP)-The fifth day of the ongoing Ladakh Astro Week witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, astronomy enthusiasts and local residents as the programme featured expert talks in the Ladakhi language, interactive sessions and a memorable stargazing experience.

The day’s programme commenced with an insightful talk by Stanzin Norlha, Engineer at BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre), who spoke on the solar system and explained various aspects of planets, stars and other celestial bodies in a simple and engaging manner.

Another engaging presentation was delivered by Dorje Angchok, Executive Engineer, Indian Astronomical Observatory (IAO), who shared fascinating stories and experiences related to the nightscapes of Ladakh. He highlighted Ladakh’s unique geographical and climatic conditions that make it one of the finest destinations for astronomy and astrophotography in the country. He also spoke about the importance of preserving the region’s dark skies and spreading awareness about astronomical studies.

An interactive question-and-answer session was held during the programme where participants actively engaged with the speakers and raised queries related to astronomy, celestial observations, space science and astrophotography. The experts responded to the questions in detail, making the session informative and engaging for the audience.

The evening programme featured an astrophotography exhibition showcasing stunning images of galaxies, stars, nebulae and the night skies of Ladakh captured by photographers and astronomy enthusiasts.

The day concluded with an exciting stargazing session where participants observed celestial objects through telescopes making it a memorable experience for astronomy enthusiasts and young participants alike.
