Khidmat-e-Awaam Held at Govt Middle School Sharchey to Ensure Doorstep Delivery of Government Services

Kargil, May 27 (KIP)-A Khidmat-e-Awaam programme was organised at Government Middle School Sharchey Village with the aim of providing doorstep delivery of various government services and spreading awareness regarding beneficiary-oriented schemes among the villagers.

On the occasion, various departments including R&B, Medical, Horticulture, Agriculture, Education, Bank, LRLM, ICDS and other line departments informed the public about different welfare schemes and services being implemented by the administration for the benefit of the people.

Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, Councillor Silmoo Constituency, Kacho Feroz Khan, Chief Education Officer Kargil, Sonam Wangchuk, Executive Engineer R&B, Mansoor Hussain, besides other district officers and officials, were present during the programme.

During the interaction session, villagers raised several issues related to water conservation, electricity, medical facilities, dams, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), livestock and other developmental concerns, and hoped for timely redressal of their grievances.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said that education remains the top priority of the administration and highlighted the initiative of biometric attendance in schools to curb absenteeism. He appreciated the role of Headmaster Mohd Abass Pintu for maintaining the legacy and discipline of the school and said the Education Department is fortunate to have dedicated headmasters like him.

The DC assured that pending liabilities would be cleared after the District Plan and directed the concerned authorities to undertake beautification works in the school through available savings. He further assured that furniture and other essential items would be provided under the Samagra plan.

Speaking on road connectivity, the Deputy Commissioner expressed hope that the road would reach the village this year, followed by fair weather road connectivity and blacktopping under PMGSY in a phased manner. He also assured that the already approved BSNL tower issue would be taken up for early implementation. Regarding digital connectivity, he said VSAT facility would be installed at the school if found feasible.

He further stated that irrigation khul and draft plans would be prioritised and implemented phase-wise. Regarding staff quarters, he directed the Executive Engineer to prepare a proposal under the Capex budget this year. He also assured amicable resolution of pending court cases and said all representations submitted by the villagers would be reviewed separately in a phased manner. The DC urged people to avail all government schemes and appreciated the Village Education Committee (VEC) members and faculty for their active community involvement.

Councillor Silmoo Constituency, Kacho Feroz Khan termed the occasion a historic day and stated that since Independence, this was the first time a Deputy Commissioner Kargil had visited Sharchey Village. He also lauded the Deputy Commissioner for the historic implementation of the teacher transfer policy and appreciated the administration’s focus on remedial classes for students. He expressed pride in the sincerity and dedication shown towards the education sector and also highlighted achievements during his tenure. The Councillor assured support for exposure tour expenses for school children from his own side.

Headmaster Government Middle School Sharchey, Mohd Abass, appreciated the Councillor for prioritising education and also highlighted the achievements of former students, including a student who qualified NEET.

The Headmaster also projected demands for proper concrete walling, extension of the school ground, demarcation of land, aluminium framing for verandah, beautification of the school and benches for students, to which the Deputy Commissioner assured phased consideration.

Later, mementoes were distributed among deserving students, parents, teachers and guests. Students also presented cultural performances during the programme.
