Successful conduct of Swachh Gaon Surakshit jalvayu campaign

Leh, June 05 (KIP)-As part of the Solid Waste Management Campaign – a series of awareness activities, plantation drives, and cleanliness drives under the Swachh Goon Surakshit Jalvayu Campaign's theme "Together for a cleaner environment, sustainable future, and climate-resilient villages" was successfully conducted across various blocks of Leh District.
The campaign focused on promoting Mission LiFE themes and SBM(G) 2.0 objectives, which includes Reduce Waste, Save Water, Say No to Single-Use Plastic, Adopt Sustainable Food Systems (Kitchen Gardens), Adopt Healthy Lifestyles.
To sensitize the public about environmental conservation, cleanliness, and the proper operation and maintenance of community Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) assets, several awareness activities were organized. These included Prabhat Pheris, awareness rallies, community dialogues, painting and drawing competitions, IEC campaigns, and cleanliness awareness programmes. Plantation and cleanliness drives were also organized and saw enthusiastic participation from a wide range of stakeholders, including PRI Members and Lead Facilitators, VWSC Members, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Swachhagrahis, CBOs/NGOs, Local eminent personalities, Retired Armed Forces and Paramilitary personnel, Senior citizens, Youth groups (NSS, NYKS, NCC, etc.) , School children and community members.
The collective efforts of all stakeholders strengthened the message of environmental responsibility and sustainable living, contributing towards cleaner villages and climate-resilient communities.
