Former MLA Ghulam Qadir Wani’s Grandson Suleman Wani from Ghat, Doda Joins PDP

Srinagar, July 01 (KIP)-In a significant political development in the Chenab region, Suleman Wani from Ghat, Doda, today joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the presence of Party President Mehbooba Mufti, former MLA and senior party leader Peer Mansoor Hussain Suharwardy.
Suleman Wani is the grandson of former MLA Ghulam Qadir Wani and the great-grandson of late Khwaja Lassa Ju Wani, both of whom were among the most respected political figures of the Doda region. Ghulam Qadir Wani and family has represented the people of Doda in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly over multiple terms and earned immense respect for his accessible leadership, commitment to public welfare, and dedicated service to the region.
The Wani family has remained deeply associated with the political and democratic life of the Chenab region for several decades, enjoying widespread goodwill for its enduring commitment to public service. The family also shared a long-standing and close political association with the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, contributing significantly to his political vision and strengthening the PDP’s outreach in the region.
Welcoming Suleman Wani into the PDP, the party leadership described his induction as a valuable addition that would further strengthen the party’s organisational base in the Chenab region. They expressed confidence that his political understanding, grassroots connect, and the legacy of public service associated with his family would help reinforce the PDP’s outreach among the people of Doda.
Speaking on the occasion, Suleman Wani said he was honoured to carry forward his family’s rich legacy of public service through the PDP. Recalling his family’s close association with the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, he reaffirmed his commitment to the party’s founding principles and pledged to work tirelessly for the welfare, dignity, and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
