17/07/2026
Leh,July 17 (KIP)-As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, and digital governance, the District Administration, Leh has rolled out the AEBAS across its offices. The initiative has been undertaken under the leadership of Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor, UT of Ladakh and the guidance of Worthy Chief Secretary, UT of Ladakh.
The rollout of the system was formally launched by Sh. Romil Singh Donk, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Leh from the DC office, marking a significant step towards modernising and streamlining attendance management and promoting punctuality in the offices. The implementation of AEBAS marks another important milestone in the Administration's commitment in leveraging digital technologies for efficient governance.
The Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) is a digital attendance management
solution. Employees can mark their attendance through the designated mobile application by
authenticating their identity using facial recognition technology. The system securely verifies the
employee's identity through the Aadhaar authentication framework and records the attendance with the date, time, etc. The attendance data is then transmitted to the centralized server, where it is securely maintained for monitoring and reporting purposes.
Key features of the system include:
• Usage of Mobile phones: Employees can mark their attendance using the AadhaarBAS app and
other associated app, available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
• Real-time recording and synchronization of attendance data.
• Centralized Dashboard: Centralized monitoring and reporting through a portal.
• Improved transparency, accountability, and administrative efficiency.
The implementation of AEBAS with Face Authentication offers a secure, contactless, and efficient attendance mechanism. It enhances transparency in attendance management, minimizes the possibility of impersonation or proxy attendance, and reduces administrative overhead associated with manual attendance systems.
The Administration has initiated the process of employee’s registration and installation of the designated mobile application within the stipulated timeline. In the initial phase, the system is being
implemented in DC Office Leh and will subsequently be extended across all government
offices/institutions in the coming days in a phased manner.
Necessary guidance and technical assistance
will be provided to facilitate a smooth transition to the new attendance system. The rollout of AEBAS reflects the Administration's commitment to adopting secure and innovative digital solutions that strengthen governance, improve administrative efficiency, and promote greater accountability across all offices.
