DC Kargil Chairs Meeting to Review TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

Kargil, August 17 (KIP)-Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS, today chaired the inaugural meeting of District TB Mukt Bharat Committee and to review the implementation and progress of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in the district at his office chamber.
The meeting was attended by the CMO Kargil, CMO Drass, DTO Kargil, CO NCC 2nd Battalion, District Programme Coordinator, WHO-TB Consultant, District Youth Services & Sports Officer, District Youth Officer (My Bharat), representative from Dept. of Labour, representative from Dept. of Education and other concerned officials.
During the meeting, the DC was briefed on the objectives of the District TB Mukt Bharat Committee and role of members along with key performance indicators of National TB Elimination Programme in Kargil.
The DC enquired on the progress under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana, status of TB-free Panchayats. Officials apprised the DC about the roles of the District-level TB Mukt Bharat Committee, responsibilities of NCC/NSS/My Bharat volunteers and functions of TB Mukt Bharat Team.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to intensify village-level field and home visits and ensure meaningful interaction with TB patients, treatment supporters, TB Vijetas and Panchayat/Ward functionaries. He stressed the importance of community participation and regular follow-up to achieve the objective of making the district TB-free.
The DC directed the concerned officers to share IEC materials with the District Information Officer (DIO) for wider dissemination and awareness among the public.
He further called for dedicated TB screening at Lal Chowk, Kargil, particularly focusing on labourers and other vulnerable groups. He also directed the health authorities to coordinate with respective teams in Srinagar, Jammu and Chandigarh for TB and medical camps for Kargil students studying there, as well as for Kargil residents living in colonies in Jammu, so that vulnerable individuals can be screened and linked with appropriate healthcare services.
The DC also directed the health authorities to identify and undertake intensive TB screening in five high-risk villages, with focused surveillance, testing and awareness activities.
