Srinagar,August 18 (KIP)-The Private Schools Association (PSA), District Srinagar, organised a Career Counselling-Cum-Felicitation Programme For NEET-2026 Qualifiers at Al-Habib Public School, Palpora, Noorbagh, Srinagar, to honour students from the district who successfully qualified NEET-2026, celebrating their hard work, perseverance and academic achievements.

The programme was organised under the directions of PSA State President Bilal Ahmad Bhat and General Secretary (Organisation) M. Syed Wani. It brought together NEET qualifiers, aspiring students, civil society members, parents, school managements, educators and representatives of the private-school fraternity. The event aimed not only to recognise academic excellence but also to motivate younger students to pursue their aspirations with determination and sustained effort.

Among those present were PSA Srinagar District President Adil Habib Bhat, PSA Women’s Wing In-charge Srinagar Rifat Khan, District Vice President Rouf Bhat, PSA Srinagar Advisor G.M. Dar, Private Schools Association (PSA) PRO B.A. Shah, PSA District Executive Member Ms. Tabassum Jan, Principal of Al-Habib Public School Lateef Ahmad Wani, Haji Abdul Ahad Wani, along with chairpersons and representatives of associated private schools, NEET qualifiers, aspirants and their parents.

The ceremony witnessed an atmosphere of celebration and pride as successful students were felicitated for their performance in one of the country’s most competitive entrance examinations. Speakers emphasised that behind every successful result lies the collective contribution of students, parents, teachers and school managements.

Speaking on the occasion, PSA Srinagar District President Adil Habib Bhat congratulated the NEET qualifiers and their parents while appreciating the dedication of teachers and school management. He said the felicitation programme was organised to recognise the achievements of students from Srinagar who had qualified NEET-2026 and to encourage them at an important stage of their academic journey.

“These are our own children and our future. Encouraging them and recognising their hard work is our responsibility. They have worked day and night to qualify one of the most competitive examinations and it is our duty to appreciate their achievement and motivate them to go further,” Bhat said.

He added, “Our primary focus is education. When a student works hard and achieves something significant, that success should become an inspiration for hundreds of other children. We want our younger students to see these achievers as role models and believe that they too can reach their goals through dedication and perseverance.”

“My message to parents is simple, spend time with your children, understand them and remain connected with them. In today’s rapidly changing society, the generation gap can sometimes create distance between parents and children. We need to reduce that gap through communication, understanding and trust,” he said.

PSA PRO B.A. Shah said examination success is only the beginning of a new journey and urged students to remain focused, disciplined and hardworking.“Success in an examination is not the end, it is the beginning of a new chapter. Students must continue working hard and remain focused on their goals,” Shah said.

Stressing the need for proper career counselling and respect for individual interests and abilities, Shah said, “Every child is different, and career guidance must be based on their interests and abilities rather than conventional choices.”

He added that education should go beyond textbooks and examinations, highlighting the importance of extracurricular activities in building students’ confidence, social skills and personality. He said recognising achievers creates a culture of aspiration and inspires younger students to pursue their goals with determination.

Edu. Leader Ms. Tabassum Jan said gatherings dedicated to student achievements carry special significance as they celebrate and nurture the future of society. “I will be happiest when I know that the career these children have chosen is truly their own choice and not something imposed upon them. This is extremely important because every child has different abilities, interests and aspirations,” she said.

Tabassum said the generation gap should not always be viewed negatively and called for greater understanding between parents and children. “Parents provide unconditional love, affection, support and a platform for the future. The real challenge is to minimise the gap by understanding each other. Parents should understand their children, and children should respect their parents”.

PSA Srinagar Vice President Rouf Bhat highlighted the need to strengthen career counselling and guidance systems for students, particularly after they complete major academic milestones. He said qualifying an examination should not be viewed as the final destination but as the beginning of another phase requiring sustained effort, informed decisions and proper guidance.

Other speakers at the programme cautioned against the tendency to push students towards conventional career choices such as medicine and engineering without considering their individual interests, abilities and potential.

The speakers observed that every examination result should be seen as a beginning rather than an ending, as students face new challenges and decisions after qualification. They stressed that proper counselling is essential to help students understand their strengths and choose careers that genuinely match their abilities and interests.

They further emphasised that a healthy education system must recognise diverse career pathways and ensure that students do not feel compelled to enter a particular profession merely because it enjoys social prestige.

The felicitated NEET qualifiers expressed gratitude to their parents, teachers and schools for standing by them throughout their preparation. The students said their journey was marked by long hours of study, repeated practice, self-discipline and moments of pressure, but consistent effort helped them achieve their goals.

One of the NEET qualifiers said “Qualifying NEET is a dream that requires patience and continuous hard work. There were difficult days, but the support of our parents and teachers gave us the confidence to keep going.”

Another student described the felicitation programme as a motivating experience. “Being recognised in front of our parents, teachers and society is a very special feeling. It gives us confidence to work even harder in the next phase of our journey”.

Parents of the qualifiers appreciated PSA’s initiative, saying that public recognition of academic achievements gives students confidence and makes their hard work more meaningful. They also acknowledged the contribution of teachers and school management in supporting students throughout their preparation.

The Principal of Al-Habib Public School, Lateef Ahmad Wani, appreciated PSA’s initiative and said recognition of students’ achievements creates a positive academic environment. “Every successful student carries the contribution of many people behind that success. Teachers provide academic guidance, parents provide emotional and financial support, while schools create an environment in which students can learn, grow and pursue their ambitions,” Wani said.

The Principal also stressed the importance of allowing students to maintain a healthy balance between academics and other activities. “Students need opportunities to study, compete and excel, but they also need time to interact, participate in extracurricular activities and enjoy their school years. Holistic development should remain at the heart of education,” he said.

The Private Schools Association reiterated its commitment to promoting academic excellence, strengthening student motivation and creating opportunities to recognise student achievements across Jammu & Kashmir.

The Association said such felicitation programmes would continue to serve as platforms for celebrating students, encouraging younger batches and highlighting the contributions of students, teachers, parents and school managements.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to all distinguished guests, school heads, teachers, parents, students and representatives of private schools association for their valuable presence and support. The organisers congratulated all NEET-2026 qualifiers on their remarkable achievements and appreciated the dedication of parents, teachers and school management in guiding and supporting the students throughout their academic journey. The organisers also thanked Al-Habib Public School, for hosting the felicitation ceremony and contributing to its successful conduct.
