Happiness Drive at Vridh Ashram by MIER College of Education Organises

Jammu, September 28 (KIP)-A vibrant and heart-warming “Happiness Drive” was organised by a large number of NSS Volunteers representing MIER College of Education, Jammu, at the Home for the Aged & Infirm (Vridh Ashram), Ambphalla, Jammu
The programme was led by Dr. Kamal Sharma, Programme Officer, NSS, whose guidance and coordination ensured the smooth and disciplined conduct of the entire programme.
The students presented a wide range of activities specially designed to involve the elderly residents and create an atmosphere of happiness and companionship. The programme included poetry recitations, old songs, bhangra, group dances on popular songs of the 1960s and 1970s, wedding songs, games, Passing the Parcel, Antakshri, Guess the Song and distribution of gifts.
The residents actively joined the students in Antakshri, Guess the Song, Passing the Parcel and other recreational activities, while also enjoying the musical and dance performances. The interaction between the students and residents created an atmosphere of warmth, laughter and togetherness throughout the programme.
The students demonstrated commendable enthusiasm and creativity in making the event engaging for the residents. Akshita Khajuria and Jahanvi Paroch played an important role in anchoring and conducting the programme, while Ritika Bhat contributed as a participant and organiser. Ankita Chib, Tavisha Gupta, Shriya Menitoo and Nixen also took active roles in the various activities and performances. Sahil Saxena served as the photographer, documenting the memorable moments of the programme.
The performances of old songs, wedding songs and group dances, particularly evoked fond memories among the elderly residents. The traditional and nostalgic elements of the programme provided an opportunity for the residents to reconnect with familiar music and memories while sharing moments of joy with the younger generation.
From the Home for the Aged & Infirm (Vridh Ashram), Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary; Er. Vijay Gupta, Joint Secretary; and Management Committee Members Sr. Rajinder Singh and Sh. Sat Pal Sharma, along with Dr. Bharat Bhushan, former CMO & Medical Officer, were present on the occasion.
The programme was not merely a cultural presentation but developed into a genuine interaction between generations, with students and residents participating together in songs, games and conversations. The spontaneous involvement of the residents added a special warmth to the occasion and reflected the positive impact of meaningful social engagement.
